    About

    Streams of inspiration
    Our mission

VEENA was created to serve a simple yet fundamental human desire: to feel inspired.

We create tools and experiences that help us reconnect with this essential part of being alive. Through music, creativity, and shared experiences, VEENA exists to support growth, challenge self-limitations, and to inspire us to express our most authentic way of being.

    Our story

Sometimes we create something simply because we need it ourselves — only to realise, along the way, that many others have been looking for the same thing.

    VEENA began like that.

My name is Joshua, and it started with a songbook.

    The Inspiration

I still remember the first time I came across mantra and medicine music. Friends and artists were singing these simple, powerful songs, and something deep inside me was stirred — something that made me want to join in.

I began writing down lyrics and chords in my notebook. Sometimes I found versions online, sometimes I learned them by ear. Before long, I had pages and pages of scraps: chords here, translations there, notes in the margins, recordings saved on my phone. Like many people, I was slowly collecting a personal archive of songs that mattered to me.

I discovered a few songbooks circulating online — they felt like secret treasure chests at the time. They were incredible, but often I couldn’t find the melody, or a way to really hear the song. I remember the frustration of seeing hundreds of titles with no way to connect to their sound.

At the same time, I realised just how precious my own notebook had become. I used it daily. It travelled with me. It held something sacred.

    The Songbook

I’ve always loved creating meaningful objects. Things that are used often, but cared for. Things that last. Objects you can imagine being passed between friends, or down through generations.

With my background in design, the idea of a songbook suddenly became very clear to me — not just a collection of songs, but something beautiful, organised, and intentional. A book that felt sacred, yet practical. Something that invited people not just to read, but to sing.

    So I made one.

At first, I printed just a few copies. We used them in my community, and I gifted them to friends. Occasionally someone asked if they could buy one — though I rarely had any spare.

    Slowly, more people began asking.

    Time to shine

Printing was expensive, and I had no real plan for how to share the book more widely. But through time, some fortunate meetings, and the kindness of friends, I found a way to offer it online.

What started as a small, personal project began travelling far beyond anything I expected.

Today, VEENA is still a very small operation — just me, with some help from my mum — but the songbooks now live in homes and communities all over the world. I’ve since completed a second book, Mantra Songbook, and hearing from people who use them continues to be one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.

When someone writes to tell me how they found the book, or how it’s supported their own path, it genuinely moves me. In many ways, it feels like a small piece of my soul is travelling with each copy — and I love that feeling.

    Why VEENA

Years later, the inspiration is still very much alive.

VEENA is the next natural step.

The veena is the instrument often held by the goddess Saraswati — a symbol of creativity, music, wisdom, and learning. In many ways, VEENA represents the stream that all of this flows from.

A place where inspiration is shared, explored, and passed on.

    What Lives Here

VEENA is now the home of the songbooks, and of everything that is growing from them.

Here you’ll find retreats, experiences, video courses, and instruments — all created with the same intention: to inspire connection, creativity, and devotion through music and practice.

Everything offered here is something I genuinely believe in, use myself, or feel called to share.

    Keep growing

I’m deeply excited for what lies ahead, and grateful for everyone who has found their way here.

If something within VEENA resonates with you, I hope we meet along the way — in song, in learning, or in shared experience.

    Welcome.
